Banquet Manager

Full-Time/Varied Shifts

Job Summary


The Banquet Manager directs and organizes the activities of the banquet department while maintaining high standards of the operation in quality and service to maximize profits. The Banquet Manager markets and sells the event space and plans and executes all the functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote positive guest relations by projecting a courteous, helpful attitude
  • Coordination of all group needs including but not limited to site tours, reservations, group bookings, payments, changes, menus, function space, special events, etc.
  • Maintain telephone and email contact with clients, vendors and internal departments
  • Create and maintain contracts, group requests, utilization reports, etc.
  • Responsible for arranging event space as specified to accommodate scheduled groups including meetings, weddings, etc.
  • Prepares detailed Banquet Event Orders to ensure proper room set up and event execution
  • Coordinate all requests with appropriate departments i.e. Culinary, IT, Casino, etc.
  • Manages the on-site storage facilities and transport of items to and from for event needs
  • Responsible for overseeing the upkeep, maintenance and general appearance of all event spaces, equipment and supplies
  • Manages monthly inventory; prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions
  • Ensures that all regulatory, company and department policies/procedures are adhered to
  • Schedule, train, and supervise banquet and catering staff 
  • Assures consistency in Banquet service through ongoing training
  • Ensures compliance with food safety, sanitation and alcohol service 
  • Maintain open communication with Banquet Kitchen, Servers, Bartenders and other departments to ensure smooth guest service
  • Manages tip allocation and posting for all events
  • Maintain event documentation, billing accuracy and post-event follow-up 
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual department budget and prepare reports
  • Regularly provide information to Director of Operations and Director of F&B regarding guest reactions, comments, or problems that may arise and any safety/appearance concerns throughout the property to ensure a quality and safe environment
  • Show willingness and effort to work as a team
  • Perform other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21
  • Minimum 5 years of banquet, catering, or hospitality management experience
  • Must have demonstrated exemplary customer service, attention to detail, and ability to perform job duties in a repetitious and fast paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and safety regulations
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to courteously and efficiently interact with others to ensure a positive experience
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English and listen attentively
  • Must follow verbal and written directions, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on banquet needs; full-time, salaried exempt position and expected to work the hours necessary to fulfill job responsibilities
